The 1980’s bring back fond memories of talking like a Valley Girl (like totally), moon walking in the kitchen, and rooting for E.T. to, “Phone home.”

Remember 80’s music? Music from the 80’s was all about fun. The Vietnam War was over and music’s heavy message of the 70’s disappeared. Cyndi Lauper sang Girls Just Want to Have Fun; Whitney Houston sang “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” and Van Halen sang, “Jump!”  And who could forget one-hit wonder, Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry, Be Happy?” Pop rock ruled in music of the 80’s.

Heavy metal music in the 80’s didn’t seem so heavy anymore. Heavy Metal bands like Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Guns and Roses, and Poison were kind of glam. Actually, that era of Heavy Metal was dubbed, “Hair Metal,” because Metal groups had long, teased out hair. Sometimes they even wore make-up. But, they sang, instead of screamed, which made them interesting even to die hard Pop fans.  

By the end of the decade Rap music made its way on the charts. Most notably was Fresh Prince’s (a.k.a. Will Smith) Rap tune, Fresh Prince of Bel Aire. The rap was so funny that it was spun off into a half hour comedy on NBC.
